For as long as I can remember, I've kept a journal.
Most mornings and evenings, regardless of where I am, I'll put pen to paper and write whatever happens to be there.
As a nervous child with a chronic stutter, writing gave my busy mind somewhere to go, it slowed my thoughts down in a way speaking often couldn't, and helped me find some space between the thought and the words.
Over the years, it became increasingly helpful, putting thoughts on paper meant they weren't whizzing around, they could stay on the page while i got on with things. Looking back on old entries have been useful to see that many things which once felt overwhelming eventually, found their place.
